In July, our technicians conducted rigorous testing of portables provided by EF Johnson Technologies, a manufacturer of Project 25 compliant two-way radios. The purpose was to test radio performance and functionality on the BRICS 800MHz voice system.
After extensive testing, we have certified the EF Johnson portable radio for non-public safety use. Audio quality was exceptional and the radios passed all the technical requirements for operation on our system. The field test of these radios was considered a success and can be contributed to teamwork between Butler County and the manufacturer. As we identified issues, EF Johnson was very responsive, bringing in people from out of town and spending considerable time to fine tune radio performance on our system. They were timely in their responses and we thank them for their cooperation and assistance.
