Beginning at 0800 hours on Friday, September 25, law enforcement users dispatched by the Butler County Sheriff’s Office will begin transitioning to the BRICS 800MHz voice system.
Corrections and Court Security at the Sheriff’s Office began using the system in February. The remainder of BCSO, including patrol operations, will come online tomorrow. Other law enforcement agencies dispatched by BCSO, including Fairfield Township Police, Ross Township Police and Seven Mile Police will be switching as early as tomorrow or during the next several days. Other county agencies, including Coroner, Prosecutor, Dog Warden and EMA users will be online next week. Fire and EMS users dispatched by BCSO will transition in the next couple months.
BCSO patrol vehicles will retain a VHF mobile radio to ensure interoperability with neighboring agencies who have not begun using 800MHz.
